The cafe/bar at the Northcott Theatre on the Exeter University campus was having real problems with its acoustics during the busy shows when the cafe was full.

During a minor refurbishment project, where some air handling units were added, we took the opportuniy to improve the acoustic qualities of the space by adding the large fabric sails as a noise reduction solution.

The fabric is a close weave mesh, produced specifically for the interior acoustic application where sound and Class O fr are of equal importance.

The six sails are fixed in place to the same geometry, to give a feel of symmetry down the space, while the large air space between allow air movement between the fins.

We have a range of interior products specifically designed to improve acoustics - or you could go for a bespoke solution as the university did with this scheme.
