This glass atrium shopping centre was previously challenged by excessive direct sunlight throughout much of the year, creating an uncomfortable environment for visitors. Our design solution addressed this by enhancing both the visual experience and the thermal comfort of the space.
To draw the eye upwards and celebrate the impressive scale of the atrium, we introduced four propeller-style feature sails suspended from the ceiling. These sculptural elements create a dynamic focal point and add visual interest. Additionally, ten large scalloped-edge sails were installed along the south-facing elevation to provide targeted solar shading where it was most needed.
The result is a more inviting, visually engaging, and cooler interior environment that enhances the overall visitor experience.
The entire installation was completed over a two-week period by a six-person rope access crew. To minimise disruption to daily operations, all works were carried out overnight while the centre was closed to the public.
