Having worked with the architect before on a scheme at the V&A in the past, we were delighted to be helping on this scheme, designing a pair of subtle retractable shop awnings for this particularly prestigious location on the corner of Pall Mall and St James, London.

Berry Bros and Rudd Spirits are Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchants and have been on this site since 1698, occupying this amazing position with shop retail frontage and many cellars below.

Previous photos and drawings show that this Grade II listed building had similar curved canopies back in the 1890s and the client was wanting to return to this historical look.

The canopy fabric is supported by a steel frame with integrated pulleys and hydraulic struts.

Two more awnings are hoped for later this year on the St James aspect of the building, but these are subject to planning!
