This interior decorative sail formed the centrepiece of an atrium within a new development for the Redcliffe area of the city on behalf of Beechcroft.

The canopy as well as providing a focus for the space, offers a degree of containment and protection for people meeting within the space.

The inner fabric panel is fixed directly to the outer fabric - which in theory should not work, as the inner fabric should pull the outer fabric out of shape - but as you can see works perfectly.

The canopy is fixed within the space via 4mm stainless steel cables, that are connected to the existing ring beam steel via brackets that penetrate the plasterboard bulkhead. The sequencing of this all had to be agreed with the main contractor to ensure a smooth installation was achieved.

The fabric is a Satine 5500 white, chosen for its fire rating, its light transmission qualities and stability to avoid being effected by any variation in moisture levels.
