Outside of our normal scope of works, TensileFabric took on a project slightly outside of the box.

Introduced to this in mid-October 2010, we embraced the challenge of having this huge holiday feature completed by mid-November ready for Gap's Oxford Street Christmas season.

Our brief was to replicate the client’s visual as close as possible. In order to do this we constructed the building in 3d placing all the forms in situ, therefore giving us all the information required for the complicated installation that was to follow.

The cubes, made out of MDF, had either a high quality spray paint finish or were covered with a specialised glitter fabric. The glitter cubes were finally brought to life with attached neon lighting.
The entire installation, rigged over three nights, consisted of a low level window display and a suspended ceiling display.

For the low level window display the cubes were threaded onto a freestanding curved steel support, creating the appearance that the parcels are balancing upon one another.

“Tensilefabric were fantastic to work with! They designed a scheme that reflected our proposal perfectly and ensured a smooth and fast installation in time for our opening event. Their creativity and attention to detail was exceptional.” Bethan Bowers, Marketing Production, Europe & Strategic Alliances, Gap Inc.
